Watch this video about School 21 in London, England. School 21 is a model for empathy, which means they are really good at making sure all students feel accepted and included. They do this in many great ways. They make sure everyone feels welcome and important. They understand that each student is special and brings something special to the school. They also believe in celebrating differences. They teach students to be kind and understanding towards others, even if they are different from us. This helps everyone feel cared for and understood. Another thing they do is encourage students to work together and help each other. This creates a sense of belonging and friendship among students. School 21 is truly exceptional because they care about every student and make sure everyone feels happy and supported. They are a great example of how schools can create a friendly and inclusive environment for students around the world.

Activity Tips

  1. Remind the students to write down words they don’t understand or questions that immediately come to mind about the topic they’re watching.

  2. Tell them to be ready to share with their group.



Step 2:
Group Session

After the video, divide students into groups of 3 or 4 and let the students begin their discussions while you circulate; it’s all about what THEY think and feel. Ask them to listen carefully to their friends as they might have different opinions to them.

Step 3:
Assessment

Ask the students:

  • Ask the students who they believe the best listeners and best team players are from this activity. 

  • Ask them to justify their answers in a simple sentence. 

  • Explain to them that the idea is everyone improves both their listening and teamwork skills over time.

  • Ask the students to summarize the video in 6-8 words only.
